MATTHEW MARTIN

Hometown: Louisville, KY

Matthew Martin was born on July 26, 1979 in Ft. Walton Beach, FL., but before he reached elementary school, he and his family moved to Altus, OK where Matthew was subsequently raised, as part of a growing family which included two brothers and two sisters.

Growing up in a town with one department store and one restaurant proved challenging to someone with boundless energy and an active imagination like Matthew. His frenetic energy and ingenuity also led to what some might call an auspicious “beginning” to his TV career. Early in high school, Matthew found himself banned for a time from the local Wal Mart for making unauthorized announcements over the store’s P. A. system and again later, for conducting unauthorized “man on the street” interviews in the store using his family’s camcorder and a pen for a microphone.

Deciding to use more traditional outlets for his energy and creativity, Matthew immersed himself into sports, music and theatre, excelling in soccer and singing in both the All State and All Region choirs. He also was the male lead for two of his school’s Broadway play productions. Two years of college followed his high school years, but Matthew soon decided he needed much more than Altus, OK could offer him.

Matthew moved to Nashville, TN in January of 2000 to pursue his dream of music, but again found himself diversifying his activities. He signed with a modeling agency and appeared in ads for Bridgestone Firestone tires, as well as swimsuit ads and ads for various other products. Still pursuing singing, he signed a recording contract as part of a band with Atlantic Records in 2001 which unfortunately did not result in a release.

Early in 2005, Matthew joined the team at the ShopAtHome network as a TV show host, where he quickly became known for his engaging, fun and spirited style. His highly popular segments helped to charm his way into the homes and hearts of viewers throughout the USA with his looseness and genuine, fun loving spirit. The June, 2006 issue of Shop Talk Magazine, a periodical focused on the television networks dedicated to consumer home shopping, has named Matthew as the “sexiest show host in America” and will feature his picture on the magazine’s cover.

Matthew is very easily described as a people person. His passion for life, his spirituality and his conviction to be of help to as many people in this world as possible manifest themselves in his every activity, whether it is through television or music. It is his aim to use all of his abilities, live performance, songwriting, recording, singing, interviewing, television and video, in addition to his day to day experiences to be a man of character and integrity. His role models include Joel Osteen, Paul Hewson (Bono), T. D. Jakes, Danny Chambers, Rick Warren and John Elderage.
